Report a deed-tax or worksheet issue

Identify the page and the exact result

Use this form for a closingcostbystate.com tax figure, valuation rule, effective date, source link or calculator defect. Include the page pathname and the appropriate category. For an arithmetic discrepancy, describe a hypothetical sale price, the buyer or seller side, selected county or city, entered taxable value and the displayed amount. A document-charge report should identify the instrument type, page count, additional names or descriptions and the quoted schedule. These details let us reproduce the issue without requesting your actual closing file.

Point to the applicable authority

A public statute, revenue form or recorder fee schedule is especially useful. Tell us the date and the part of the authority that you think changes the answer. A lender’s total fee quote can include services outside the calculator’s supported scope, so a difference alone does not establish that the deed-tax arithmetic is wrong. Quote replacement is also different from adding a second charge. Read the methodology and the selected jurisdiction’s explanation before comparing their subtotals with a complete settlement statement.

Keep transaction records private

Please do not submit signed deeds, borrower names, banking information, loan account numbers, identification documents, private tax returns or a complete Closing Disclosure. Replace the figures with invented values that preserve the calculation problem. Ordinary calculator inputs are processed in your browser; sending this form is a deliberate separate transmission of your written report. The report is stored with its page, category, submission time and optional reply email. It does not include an IP address or user-agent in our corrections table.

An email and reply are optional

You can send a report without providing an address. If you choose to provide one, we use it to discuss the issue rather than subscribe you to marketing. We do not guarantee a response time and cannot resolve an urgent settlement dispute through this publication. Ask your recorder, lender, title provider or appropriate adviser for a transaction-specific determination. A reported source interpretation must still be checked before changing a rate, an exemption statement or a contractual allocation explanation.

Understand the submission receipt

The form displays an acknowledgement after the server accepts the record for storage. That acknowledgement confirms receipt, not the correctness of the report or the completeness of your closing budget. If sending fails, the text remains available so you can retry. After a successful receipt there is no need to send the same message again. We investigate reproducible software behavior and relevant primary evidence, then revise affected examples and dates when warranted. The editorial policy describes this review process and the privacy page explains the information you elect to send.
